Senator Michele Brooks and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Park Manager were present at Pymatuning State Park to welcome the first campers at the newly reopened Tuttle Point Campground. The campground, which had been closed since 2009, welcomed its first visitors in over 14 years.
"I am so grateful for this partnership with DCNR Secretary Cindy Dunn along with Pymatuning State Park Manager Dan Bickel for making this project a reality," expressed Senator Michele Brooks. She further added, "When Tuttle closed, I made a commitment to North Shenango Township Supervisors and local residents and businesses that I would do everything I could to reopen it."
The revamped Tuttle Point Campground now boasts over 100 campsites across two loops, a new main restroom and shower building, a smaller restroom for the beach, a handicapped-accessible fishing pier, and a new boat launch at the campground. Senator Brooks highlighted the significance of this reopening, stating, "This really is a great day for Pymatuning State Park, Crawford County, and campers everywhere who know how remarkable the recreational opportunities are here."
Reservations for the 2024 camping season at Tuttle Point Campground can be made through the DCNR's website until October 26. For more information, individuals can contact Adam Gingrich at 717-787-1322.
