Today, Representatives Mike Kelly and Richard Neal announced the relaunch of the Congressional Friends of Ireland Caucus in the 119th Congress. This bipartisan group focuses on diplomatic relations between the U.S. House of Representatives and Irish leaders.

Members of the caucus recently met with Irish Ambassador to the United States, Geraldine Byrne Nason. Rep. Kelly expressed pride in his Irish roots and looks forward to working with Chairman Neal and Irish leaders to advance common interests between the two nations.

Congressman Neal highlighted that since 1981, the Congressional Friends of Ireland have supported peace and reconciliation on the island of Ireland, strengthening ties between the United States and Ireland. He emphasized that "the relationship between the United States and Ireland is rooted in our strong ancestral ties and shared democratic values."

In 2024, Rep. Kelly was honored by The Ireland Funds for his public service career at their 32nd Annual National Gala. The event was co-founded by former U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Dan Rooney. Among those present was Leo Varadkar, Taoiseach of Ireland.

Additionally, Chairmen Kelly and Neal introduced a resolution in 2024 commemorating a century of U.S.-Ireland diplomatic relations.
