On January 29, 2024, Representative Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) made an important announcement regarding the Department of Labor and Industry's grant to the Veterans Leadership Program. The program has been awarded a generous sum of $200,000 for workforce development projects in western Pennsylvania.

The Veterans Leadership Program aims to tackle the issue of veteran unemployment rates by providing various opportunities for certificates and trainings in marketable job skills. Additionally, the program connects veterans with potential employers and offers financial assistance for employment-related expenses. It serves a total of 28 counties in Pennsylvania, including Mercer County.

Representative Wentling expressed his belief in the potential of veterans in the workforce, stating, "Our veterans can be an asset to almost any industry. In addition to learning a lot of useful skills during their service to our country, our veterans are selfless, hard-working, and reliable." He further emphasized the importance of this funding in connecting qualified veterans with suitable employers.

The grants awarded to the Veterans Leadership Program were made possible through reemployment funds. This funding will undoubtedly go a long way in supporting the program's mission of assisting veterans in finding meaningful employment opportunities.
