State Senator Michele Brooks | Pennsylvania
Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50) is urging residents of the 50th Senatorial District to take advantage of the Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) Program for 2024. With important changes made to the program, more people will be eligible for relief than before.
Brooks' district office staff is offering free PTRR application assistance at all three of her district offices. She emphasizes the importance of seeking guidance, especially for those who haven't applied before. Brooks states, "My staff members are happy to help, and I encourage anyone who wants guidance to please call any of my offices."
The PTRR Program has seen significant updates for this year. The maximum standard rebate has increased to $1,000, providing even more financial assistance to eligible individuals. Additionally, the income cap has been raised to $45,000 for both homeowners and renters. To determine eligibility, only half of an applicant's Social Security income is now included in the calculations. Furthermore, income caps will be adjusted annually to account for cost-of-living increases.
The program aims to support eligible Pennsylvanians who meet specific criteria. This includes individuals who are 65 years or older, widows and widowers who are 50 years or older, and individuals aged 18 or older with disabilities. In addition to age requirements, applicants must have an annual household income of less than $45,000 to qualify. It is important to note that applications must be submitted by June 30.
For residents seeking assistance in applying for the rebates, it is advised to bring all necessary income, property tax, or rental information required for quick and accurate processing of claims. Those who prefer to receive their payment via direct deposit are requested to bring a voided check.
To access Property Tax/Rent Rebate claim forms, individuals can contact Brooks' district offices or visit her website.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this program and apply for the rebates they may be eligible for. With the increased maximum rebate and raised income caps, more individuals can benefit from this assistance. Sen. Michele Brooks and her staff are ready to provide the necessary support to guide residents through the application process.
