Sharon High School issued the following announcement.
Penn State has updated its public COVID-19 dashboard with the University's on-demand testing and random testing results from tests administered during the period of Nov. 20 to 22, as well as new University testing results from the prior week. As of Nov. 23 at University Park, there are 348 active student cases, up from 318 at the last update on Nov. 20, and 4,462 students have completed their isolation period and are no longer active cases.
For the period of Nov. 20 to 22, the University Park campus received 10 positive on-demand testing results and no positive random testing results from student testing. The University’s random testing for the fall semester ended on Nov. 20.
Results received with respect to tests conducted during the week of Nov. 13 to 19 have added 212 positive on-demand student testing results and one additional positive student random testing result for the University Park campus for that week. This brings the current total for the University Park campus for Nov. 13 to 19 to 376 positive on-demand testing results and three positive random testing results from student testing.
The on-demand testing numbers include the results of student departure testing, which concluded on Nov. 19 at University Park. In total, 14,949 departure tests were performed from Nov. 12 to 19, with 341 positive results received as of today’s update. University-wide, more than 17,500 student departure tests were conducted, with 431 positive results. The few tests that are awaiting results will be validated and uploaded to the dashboard for the next update, which will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 1, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
All students who tested positive have been contacted by the University’s contact tracing team. These students also have received health guidance and been advised to isolate so as to prevent further transmission of the virus. Some of the reported positive cases are from students who are not presently living on or near Penn State campuses.
Among employees at the University Park campus, there are two new on-demand testing positive results and three new random testing positive results for the period of Nov. 13 to 19, and one new random testing positive result for the period of Nov. 20 to 22.
