GROVE CITY – Today, Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) announced that the Mercer County Historical Society has been awarded an $8,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) as part of the Cultural and Historical Grant Program.

The funds will help ensure the society can continue maintaining the proper environment to safeguard Mercer County's heritage and provide valuable resources for public research and education.

“The investment into preserving Mercer County’s extensive history is critical to honoring our past and teaching it to our younger citizens,” Bonner said. “Funding these resources brings great benefits to our area, and I am proud to have advocated for this investment.”

Located in Mercer, the historical society offers numerous resources open to the public at no cost. More information can be found on their website at mchsofpa.org.

Grants were awarded based upon a percentage of an organization’s yearly operating budget.
