Rep. Parke Wentling has announced an $80,000 grant awarded to the city of Sharon to support its Downtown Strategic Plan. The funding is provided by the Department of Community and Economic Development's Municipal Assistance Program (MAP).

The grant aims to assist Sharon officials in developing a five-year strategic plan for downtown, focusing on economic vitality, design, promotion, and organization. It will also help advance the implementation of the recent comprehensive plan.

“It is fantastic news for the city of Sharon to receive this funding,” said Wentling. “These grant dollars will help Sharon continue to renew downtown to make it a place for businesses to thrive and the economy to grow.”

The MAP offers financial assistance to local governments for planning and implementing various services and improvements while managing development effectively with intergovernmental approaches. Funding is available for shared services and community planning activities.
