On Friday, May 31, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) honored Catherine Tilko of Butler, who celebrated her 100th birthday on May 17, 2024. During a ceremony at Ms. Tilko's home, Rep. Kelly presented her with an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., along with a Congressional commendation. Rep. Kelly was joined by his wife and son while Ms. Tilko was joined by members of her family for the ceremony.
"I've known Ms. Tilko for decades. She is an incredible member of the Butler community," Rep. Kelly said. "We held this ceremony to honor this major milestone and to show Ms. Tilko just what she means not only to my family but to the entire Butler community."
According to the Tilko family, Catherine has received more than 400 birthday cards from family, friends, and community members to mark her 100th birthday.
