Conneautville Borough has been granted a significant sum of $265,000 to repair the Conneautville Dam, ensuring it meets federal and state safety requirements. This announcement was made by Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50), who emphasized the importance of these repairs in protecting the local community.

The United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection have both identified the Conneautville Dam as a high hazard potential dam. In light of this, the grant will be used to address the necessary improvements and bring the dam up to standard.

"These repairs will help protect the families and businesses of Conneautville," said Sen. Brooks. "Utilizing this grant will help to defray costs and move us closer to completing this project."

The funds will be allocated towards various aspects of the rehabilitation project. This includes realigning the auxiliary spillway channel, expanding the training dike to comply with NRCS criteria, installing a sheet pile wall to prevent auxiliary spillway flow from entering the gully next to the exit channel, and reconfiguring the eight-inch diameter embankment drainpipes.

It is worth noting that this grant was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority under its Flood Mitigation Program. This further emphasizes the commitment of the state to prioritize the safety and well-being of its communities.

The Conneautville Dam is a critical infrastructure that plays a vital role in flood control and protection. By ensuring its compliance with safety standards, the grant will not only safeguard the local residents and businesses but also contribute to the overall resilience of the area.
