Rep. Tim Bonner has announced an $85,000 grant awarded to the Mercer County Career Center by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The funding comes through the Career and Technical Centers Competitive Equipment Grants program.

The grant aims to enhance students' skills and knowledge for high-priority occupations via classes and hands-on learning experiences. It will also facilitate applying academics to construction projects.

“Funding our career center directly invests resources into our students and equips them with the essential skills to support our area’s workforce,” Bonner stated. “I am proud to have advocated for these funds to support opportunities for our students to explore other educational and career paths.”

Located in Mercer, the Mercer County Career Center is one of over 80 such centers in Pennsylvania, providing thousands of students with industry certifications for high-demand local jobs.

Under this program, grants of up to $85,000 are provided to school entities for updating or purchasing equipment used in student training within approved career and technical education programs.
