The Mercer County Historical Society has received an $8,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) under the Cultural and Historical Grant Program. The funding aims to support the society in maintaining a suitable environment for preserving Mercer County's heritage, as well as providing resources for public research and education.

Representative Tim Bonner (R-Mercer/Butler) expressed his support for the grant, stating, "The investment into preserving Mercer County’s extensive history is critical to honoring our past and teaching it to our younger citizens." He added that he is proud to have advocated for this investment, which he believes will bring significant benefits to the area.

The historical society, located in Mercer, offers numerous resources that are open to the public at no cost. More information can be found on their website at mchsofpa.org.

Grants were allocated based on a percentage of an organization’s annual operating budget.
