Rep. Tim Bonner has announced that the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) has awarded a grant exceeding $9.5 million to the Borough of Jackson Center. The funds will be used for constructing a new wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 98,000 gallons per day along Bradley Road in Jackson Township.

The construction project will include several components: a concrete headworks wet well with comminutor and perforated screen, an influent pumping well with two submersible pumps, influent valves, a metering vault, and two sequencing batch reactor treatment tanks.

"This project will bring treat sewage with the most modern technology while further protecting our waterways, surrounding environments, and public health," stated Bonner. "I was pleased to support this project and I am grateful to see PENNVEST award the Borough of Jackson Center this grant and invest in the protection of our Mercer County communities."

PENNVEST was established in 1988 to provide grants and low-interest loans for various water-related projects including drinking water distribution and treatment facilities as well as stormwater and wastewater projects.
