Rep. Mike Kelly, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Pennsylvania’s 16th district since 2011, recently shared insights on social media regarding an ongoing investigation and its findings. The tweets provide updates on a task force's investigation into issues concerning the Secret Service.
On December 9, 2024, Rep. Mike Kelly tweeted about his appearance on Face the Nation to discuss the progress of an investigation by a task force he is involved with. He stated: "ICYMI: I joined @FaceTheNation on Sunday to discuss the latest about the @TFAADJT investigation ahead of our upcoming final report."
In a subsequent tweet dated December 11, 2024, Rep. Kelly elaborated on the extensive efforts undertaken by the Task Force during their nearly five-month-long investigation. He wrote: "Throughout its nearly five-month investigation, the Task Force conducted 46 transcribed interviews with local, state, and federal agencies, reviewed nearly 20,000 pages of documents, held more than a dozen briefings with numerous agencies, and held two public hearings."
On that same day, Rep. Kelly also addressed the release of the Task Force's final report. He highlighted significant findings regarding deficiencies within the Secret Service related to events in Butler and suggested organizational reform was necessary: "On Tuesday, @TFAADJT released its final report. The 180 pages of findings clearly show Secret Service’s failures in planning, execution, and leadership in Butler. What is now also clear is that the Secret Service is an organization that is in desperate need of wholesale reform."
