Rep. Parke Wentling of Mercer County announced that the Hope Center for Arts and Technology (HopeCAT) Inc. in Sharon will receive 64 laptops to enhance residents' access to digital technology.

“HopeCAT makes a tangible contribution to the lives of so many people and receiving these laptops will give them the opportunity to further expand their impact, making the community better for those they serve,” Wentling stated in his support letter for the program. “I was happy to support this much-needed investment in our region.”

The laptops are part of Pennsylvania's Digital Connectivity Technology Program, funded by federal resources from the American Rescue Plan Act. The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority approved 117 applications, leading to the distribution of 9,122 laptops across community institutions in 42 counties within Pennsylvania.

“As a former technology education teacher and an instructional technology specialist, I well know the value of ensuring access to this vital tool,” Wentling remarked. “This is an important step forward in bringing technology and high-speed internet access to folk on the West Hill of Sharon.”
