Wilt, executive director of Penn-Northwest Development Corporation, highlighted the struggle of retaining young people in rural communities and attracting others to settle there. She stressed the importance of addressing these issues to attract people to rural areas.
The hearing also featured testimonies from Pennsylvania employers Brent Fisher, director of operations at Joy Baking Group, and Michael Walton, CEO of Jamestown Coating Technologies. They highlighted the challenges in recruitment and retention of skilled workers in manufacturing.
