Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) has announced that two Mercer County nonprofits will receive a total of $22,000 in funding through the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP). The Community Action Partnership of Mercer County will receive $13,750, while the Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County will receive $8,250.

The funding provided by NAP will support various projects aimed at revitalizing the community. For the Community Action Partnership of Mercer County, the funds will be used to address the needs of 155 lots by implementing community gardens, an art installation, a flower garden, and a memorial park. On the other hand, the Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County will utilize the funding to cover expenses related to food distribution, including food and warehouse expenses.

The Neighborhood Assistance Program offers tax credits to businesses that contribute to nonprofit organizations' efforts in community revitalization. In this case, the funding for the Community Action Partnership of Mercer County comes from First National Bank, while the contributions for the Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County came from Hudson Companies and Mercer County State Bank.

Rep. Wentling expressed his gratitude for the businesses' contributions and highlighted the positive impact of the Neighborhood Assistance Program. He stated, "The Neighborhood Assistance Program is a win for everyone involved. Our businesses get a tax break for donating to our area nonprofits, which do such great work in our communities. Thank you to these businesses for donating, our nonprofits for making Mercer County a better place, and thanks to the Neighborhood Assistance Program for bringing these parties together."

These two projects in Mercer County are part of a larger effort, with over 260 projects across the Commonwealth receiving support from NAP. The program serves as a valuable tool in fostering collaboration between businesses and nonprofit organizations to improve local communities.
