Representative Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) announced today that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has awarded Hermitage a $392,583 grant to build more than 1,000 feet of new sidewalks along the west side of Route 18.

"This grant will help more safely connect students to the YMCA," said Wentling.

The funding for the new sidewalks in Hermitage was awarded through PennDOT’s Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside program, aimed at improving the accessibility of biking and walking paths, pedestrian access to public transportation, community improvement activities, environmental mitigation projects, and trails.

The project is expected to have a positive impact on the community by enhancing pedestrian safety and connectivity in the area.
