Rep. Parke Wentling announced on Apr. 15 that the city of Sharon has been awarded $3 million from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) to support a major infrastructure project.
The funding will be used to replace 171 catch basins throughout Sharon, including the removal of existing structures and installation of new precast concrete catch basins with gates and frames, as well as necessary pavement restoration. This initiative aims to improve the city’s sewer system and related infrastructure.
“The $3 million from PENNVEST is a major boost for this project in Sharon, which will help make necessary improvements to our sewer system,” Wentling said.
PENNVEST provides financial assistance to communities in order to increase public health and safety, protect the environment, promote economic development, and improve water quality. According to the official website, Wentling lives in Greenville with his wife Jennifer and their two children. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from California University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in education emphasizing instructional technology from Clarion University of Pennsylvania according to his official biography.
Wentling holds several leadership roles within state legislative committees. He serves as Republican vice chairman of both the Game and Fisheries Committee and Republican chair of subcommittees on Parks within Environmental Resources and Protection Committee, as well as Townships within the Local Government Committee according to his official website. Prior to his current role, he spent 17 years working as an educator in the Wilmington Area School District according to his biography.
This investment is expected to have lasting benefits for residents by improving essential infrastructure while supporting environmental goals.
