State Representative Parke Wentling | Pennsylvania 7th Legislative District
Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) has announced that Penn-Northwest Development Corporation is the recipient of a $100,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. The grant is designated for Penn-Northwest’s "Homegrown Initiative," a program focused on retaining top young talent in Mercer County.
"We need to do all we can to keep Mercer County’s best and brightest right here at home," stated Wentling. "The Homegrown Initiative is working hard to make it happen by connecting employers with the next generation of local workers."
In response to the grant, Rod Wilt, executive director of the Penn-Northwest Development Corporation, expressed gratitude towards Rep. Wentling for his continuous support in prioritizing the retention of talented young adults. Wilt emphasized the importance of the Homegrown Initiative in guiding young individuals towards fulfilling, family-sustaining careers in Mercer County.
Wentling's dedication to supporting the initiative was further highlighted by Wilt, who mentioned, "As we persist in our mission to foster economic prosperity in Mercer County, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Rep. Wentling for his unwavering dedication and support."
The funding will be utilized to organize educational events and establish partnerships between Mercer County schools and local businesses, with the aim of bridging the gap between young professionals and potential employers.
