Fire and ambulance companies in the 7th Legislative District will be receiving a total of $291,549 in state grants to support their public safety mission. This announcement was made by Rep. Parke Wentling, who emphasized the importance of investing in first responders.
"Our EMTs, paramedics, and firefighters put themselves at risk to protect the rest of us," said Wentling. "An investment in our first responders is an investment that benefits everyone."
The funding for these grants comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. It is important to note that all funding for this program comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not General Fund tax revenue.
The grants will be used to support various projects and initiatives within the fire and ambulance companies. Eligible projects include the construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, the purchase or repair of equipment, training, or the reduction of existing debt. All companies that apply and meet the requirements outlined by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner receive funding.
