Rep. Tim Bonner (R-Mercer, Butler) has announced that two Career and Technical (CTCs) schools in the 17th House District, Mercer County Career Center and Butler County Area Vocational Technical School, will receive funding through this year's Career and Technical Education Equipment Grants Program. Mercer County Career Center will receive $79,546, while Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School will receive $85,000.
"Our children are unique and have different skills, so it is critical for all learners to be prepared for success once they graduate," Bonner said. "I am pleased to have advocated for this funding of our local schools. This funding allows for these programs to enhance the education of these students, as well as expand their programs. Investment into our children is essential for the future of the Commonwealth as our young people prepare to enter the workforce."
The Career and Technical Education Equipment Grants Program aims to expand and improve access to first-class equipment and educational advantages for students in CTCs across Pennsylvania. These schools offer a combination of classes and hands-on learning programs approved by the Department of Education.
With the funding received, Mercer County Career Center and Butler County Area Vocational Technical School will be able to enhance their educational offerings and provide their students with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in their chosen careers.
This investment in CTCs is crucial for the future of the Commonwealth as it prepares to meet the demands of the workforce. By providing students with state-of-the-art equipment and educational opportunities, these schools are equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their chosen fields.
The grants received by Mercer and Butler counties will go a long way in supporting the growth and development of these local CTCs. The funding will enable these schools to expand their programs and provide a high-quality education to their students.
"As our young people prepare to enter the workforce, it is essential that we invest in their education and provide them with the resources they need to succeed," said Bonner. "I am proud to have advocated for this funding and I am confident that it will make a significant difference in the lives of the students in Mercer and Butler counties."
Through programs like the Career and Technical Education Equipment Grants Program, Pennsylvania is ensuring that its students have the necessary skills and training to thrive in a competitive job market. These grants are an investment in the future of the Commonwealth and its workforce.
