City of Sharon recently issued the following announcement.
Public Notice City of Sharon Invitation to Bid
SEALED BIDS are requested by the City of Sharon and will be received at the office of Suzanne Kepple, Community Development Block Grant Program Manager, 155 W. Connelly Blvd, Sharon, PA 16146, until 1:30 pm Local Time on February 14th, 2022 for providing all labor, material and equipment for the City of Sharon Demolition and Clearance Project No. 22-01 under the City’s Community Development Block Grant Program and the General Fund for demolition of thirty-nine (39) residential dwellings and clearance thereof.
Bids will be opened publicly and read aloud at 1:35 PM Local Time Monday, February 14th, 2022 in Council Chambers. Copies of specifications and contract documents are available at the office of the Community Development Block Grant Program Manager, Municipal Building, 155 West Connelly Blvd., Sharon, PA 16146 and via email. The mandatory pre-bid meeting for this demolition and clearance project is scheduled for Wednesday, February 9th, 2022 at 1:30pm in Council Chambers.
Contract documents may be purchased for a non-refundable amount of seventy-five dollars ($75.00) payable to the City of Sharon for each set of documents so obtained. Bids must be submitted on prescribed forms furnished by the City of Sharon and completed in strict accordance with instructions provided. Each bid proposal must be accompanied by a Bid Bond, in form of a certified check or corporate surety bid bond in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the bid proposal made in favor of the City of Sharon. Performance, Labor, and Material Men’s Bonds of 100% and Maintenance Bonds of 50% with good and sufficient surety will be required as noted in the instructions to Bidders, to be filed within ten (10) days of contract award.
Attention is called to the fact that the Contractor must ensure that employees, independent contractors, and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religious creed, handicap, ancestry, national origin, age, or sex.
The Contractor, in accordance with the Executive Order 11625 and 12138 must utilize to the greatest extent feasible minority and/or women-owned business concerns which are located within the municipality, county, or the general trade area. The bidder must submit documentary evidence of minority and women-owned business enterprises who have been contacted and to whom commitments have been made. Failure to submit the required documents will result in the bid being rejected as non-responsive.
Each bidder must visit the site of the proposed work and fully acquaint him/herself as to the difficulties and restrictions attending to the performance of the contract.
No bid or any part thereof shall be withdrawn by the Bidder for a period of sixty (60) days from the date of opening of bids for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of bidders prior to awarding of the contract.
In no event will the City of Sharon consider a contractor as eligible if s/he cannot initiate the work under the contract within thirty (30) days of the contract execution and proceed to the successful completion of the work within ninety (90) consecutive calendar days of the Notice to Proceed.
