Result

Thiel College issued the following announcement.

Thiel College has secured the financing to begin $16 million in capital improvement projects.

Phase 1 of the two-part project is already underway and includes the substantial renovation of the Rhodehouse Science Building and the Academic Center, the largest academic building on campus. These improvements will create innovative lab and classroom spaces for the College’s new graduate programs in Physician Assistant Studies and Speech-Language Pathology. The physician assistant program facilities will include a new cadaver lab. The construction in Phase 1 is also supported by $1 million for improvements to laboratories, classrooms and common areas awarded to the College through a state Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).

“I am grateful to Thiel’s Board of Trustees and the College’s leadership team who worked tirelessly on this financing and the planning of these projects. I also deeply appreciate the cooperation and aid of the Penn Northwest Development Corporation and elected officials at the county and state level, who understood the economic value to our region of these investments in the College,” President Susan Traverso, Ph.D. said. “The scope of these projects will enrich almost every aspect of a student’s life on campus.”

The larger second phase will begin in May 2021 and will expand improvements throughout the science and academic centers, as well as new and improved athletic facilities. Improvements in several residential buildings will also unfold over the next two years, including renovations of bathrooms and common areas.

The College opened the project to competitive bids, and local contractors have been selected for many of the projects.
