During the opening quarter of 2026, Saint Paul Homes was recognized as Mercer County’s largest nursing home, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reports.

The data indicates the facility offered 192 beds—89 more beds than the county average for this time frame. The provider supported an average of 120.2 residents daily throughout the quarter.

Saint Paul Homes earned the CMS’s overall rating of 5 out of 5, exceeding Pennsylvania’s state-wide nursing home average rating of 3.

Throughout the quarter, Kadima Rehabilitation & Nursing at Greenville was identified as the second largest in Mercer County, with 154 beds. Orchard Manor secured third, supplying 121 beds.

For Q1 2026, Saint Paul Homes had no reported incidents of fines or penalties.

In Mercer County, Pennsylvania, three nursing homes conducted operations on a non-profit basis.

U.S. Census Bureau data show the country’s older adult population is rising as the number of younger residents shrinks. Between 2020 and 2024, the population age 65 and older increased by 13%, while those under 18 declined by 1.7%. The older adult population in America grew substantially over the past century, from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

A study published in 2021 found that nearly half of these older adults, roughly 28 million people, might require long-term services and supports. The study also projects over one-third could eventually need nursing home services.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
