Rep. Parke Wentling is set to host a bike rodeo aimed at teaching elementary-age children about bike safety. The event will take place on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to noon at Buhl Park in Hermitage.

The bike rodeo is open to children from kindergarten through sixth grade. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from educators with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. In addition to safety lessons, there will be snacks, an obstacle course, and a raffle for two bicycles.

Wentling expressed his enthusiasm for the event: “I look forward to seeing my youngest constituents Saturday with their bikes and helmets. As a biking enthusiast myself, I know we are approaching some prime cycling time in the coming months. It is important everyone is able to ride safely and confidently.”

The bike rodeo is part of National Bicycle Safety Month and involves collaboration with several local organizations including Buhl Park, PennDOT, The Bicycle Store, Primary Health Network Charitable Foundation, and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department.

Families interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP by contacting Wentling’s office at 724-638-4101.
