U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA), the Chairman of the Ways & Means Subcommittee on Tax, has taken a significant step in supporting the House budget resolution, which sets the budgetary framework for fiscal year 2025 and establishes budget levels for the subsequent years up through 2036. This resolution aligns with key legislative priorities backed by House Republicans, including border security funding, energy policy, and tax reductions.

Kelly stated, “The American people made it clear in November: they want Congress to secure all of our nation’s borders, rein in wasteful spending, and expand American energy production. This budget resolution does just that.” He emphasized that the resolution is designed to deliver on President Trump’s agenda for the fiscal year 2025, which he referred to as the “Super Bowl of Tax.”

As major provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act approach expiration in 2025, Kelly, along with Ways & Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO), announced the formation of ten Committee Tax Teams in April 2024. These teams, composed of Republican members from the Ways & Means Committee, are tasked with addressing key tax provisions nearing expiration and crafting legislative solutions to continue benefiting families, workers, and small businesses. A notable event in this effort was the historic Ways & Means field hearing held in Erie in May 2024.

Additional information on Representative Kelly’s recent initiatives is available.
