Today, U.S. Representative Mike Kelly from Pennsylvania released a statement in response to President Donald J. Trump’s recent Joint Address to Congress. The address was delivered on Tuesday night.

Rep. Kelly expressed his support for the President’s message, stating: “Tonight, President Trump made it clear: America is back, and we are open for business. Just as importantly, he will operate government like a business. The President is committed to restoring the American Dream for all Americans, cutting wasteful spending, lowering taxes, securing our borders, and getting our great nation back on track.” He further added that he looks forward to collaborating with President Trump on enacting the “America First” agenda in the upcoming year.

Since taking office, President Trump has taken several actions which include signing “The Laken Riley Act” aimed at combating illegal immigration following its unanimous passage by House Republicans. Additionally, he declared a national emergency deploying military forces at the border and classified cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations.

The administration established the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with a focus on eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars. Iran-backed Houthis were redesignated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization under Trump’s directives.

In terms of international relations and economic policy, President Trump hosted leaders from Israel, Japan, India, and Jordan at the White House to discuss peace and economic prosperity among nations. He also worked towards reducing China’s influence in strategic areas such as the Panama Canal by persuading Panama’s president to exit the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative.

On energy policy matters, Trump declared a National Energy Emergency aiming to harness America’s full energy potential while rescinding regulations imposed during the Biden administration deemed harmful to jobs and pro-China by his administration. This included ending a pause on Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) projects and approving an LNG project after previous bans.
