Rep. Mike Kelly, currently representing Pennsylvania’s 16th district in the U.S. Congress, has shared several updates on recent legislative efforts and engagements. Kelly, who has served since 2011 after replacing Kathy Dahlkemper, continues to focus on initiatives aimed at housing development and economic growth.
On April 29, 2025, Rep. Mike Kelly discussed the potential impact of the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act. “By partnering with the private sector, the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act could result in 500,000 new or rehabilitated homes over the next decade, while also creating good-paying jobs in construction and related industries,” Kelly stated. His information was part of an op-ed co-written with Rep. John Larson and featured in The Hill.
In a statement posted the next day, April 30, 2025, Kelly highlighted the success of Opportunity Zones in downtown Erie. He noted, “Opportunity Zones have been a gamechanger for downtown Erie. This pro-growth tax policy offers crucial incentives that do not cost American taxpayers a single cent.” Kelly emphasized the importance of Congress extending, expanding, and making the 2017 tax cuts permanent to benefit working families and small businesses.
Later on April 30, Kelly also expressed his satisfaction from meeting with the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry in Washington. “Great to meet with the @PAChamber in Washington today to discuss the importance of pro-growth tax policy and other business-focused issues,” he mentioned in his tweet.
Mike Kelly, a Pittsburgh native, was born in 1948 and resides in Butler. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
