Orchard Manor was identified as the third largest nursing facility in Mercer County during the first quarter of 2026, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.
The center offered a total of 121 available beds—18 more than Mercer County’s average for that period—and housed an average of 102 residents.
The CMS gave Orchard Manor an overall score of 2 out of 5, which is below the Pennsylvania nursing home average of 3.
Saint Paul Homes led as the largest facility in Mercer County with 192 beds, followed by Kadima Rehabilitation & Nursing at Greenville, which reported 154 beds.
Orchard Manor incurred a total of $7,443 in fines and received one penalty during the first quarter of 2026.
There were seven for-profit nursing homes in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, during the same period.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate the number of older adults continues to rise while younger age groups are shrinking. Between 2020 and 2024, Americans 65 and older increased by 13%, contrasted with a 1.7% decrease for those under 18. The older adult population in the U.S. has surged from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million as of 2024.
A 2021 study estimates nearly half of the older adult population—about 28 million people—may require long-term help, with over a third potentially needing nursing home care in the future.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
