St. Anastasia was the daughter of a Roman nobleman and a Christian mother. She was a marytr of the Diocletian persecutions and beheaded on December 25 in modern-day Serbia. Her body was interred in the home of a Christian, which would later be converted into a basilica. Her remains are still there in the Cathedral of St. Anastasia in Zadar, Croatia. She is one of seven women, who along with the Blessed Virgin Mary, commemorated by name in the Roman Canon. In the Orthodox Church, she is known as the “Deliver from Potions” because of her miraculous healing of a poisoned man. Depending on Rite, her feast is assigned to either the 22nd or 25th of December.

St. Anastasia of Sirmium, pray for us!
