Senator Michele Brooks and Representative Parke Wentling have congratulated Nico Nicklin, a fifth-grade student at Greenville Elementary School, for being selected as the cover artist for the 2026 Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Drug-Free calendar. Nicklin was chosen from more than 2,000 applicants statewide and is one of 13 students whose artwork will be featured in the calendar.
Nicklin’s artwork, which depicts green hillsides and a garden, was awarded a $529 prize. The drawing carries the message: “Be drug-free and as healthy as you can be!”
“Congratulations Nico, for not only this great achievement honoring your artistic talents, but also for your caring nature. Your colorful drawing of green hillsides and a growing garden is a perfect illustration of the artwork’s title: ‘Be drug-free and as healthy as you can be!’” said Brooks. “We cannot overstate how important this message is, especially to our young people. It’s never too early to raise awareness about the danger of drugs, or the important benefits of maintaining healthy lifestyle habits starting from a young age.”
“I want to congratulate Nico on this incredible recognition for being chosen as the cover artist for this year’s calendar,” said Wentling. “Nico, your art will help students across Pennsylvania make the right choice when it comes to substance abuse and you fully deserve this honor of having your artwork showcased across our Commonwealth. As a former student of Greenville Elementary, where generations of my family have attended, it’s an honor to the school and its staff to see you succeed.”
The Office of Attorney General’s Drug-Free Calendar Contest marks its 29th anniversary in 2026. Each year during National Substance Use Prevention Month, students from across Pennsylvania submit designs promoting drug-free messages; thirteen winners are selected annually.
