Communities in Pennsylvania’s 50th Senatorial District are set to receive more than $2.9 million in funding aimed at expanding and rehabilitating affordable housing, according to an announcement from Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50). The funds come through the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, which is managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The allocation will be used for various projects across Lawrence, Mercer, and Crawford counties. This includes home rehabilitation efforts in Lawrence and Mercer Counties as well as new affordable rental units in Meadville. Additional support will go toward operating costs for Common Roots, a Community Housing Development Organization based in Crawford County.
Sen. Brooks stated, “This significant investment will bring real help to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and other residents in the 50th District, and also increase affordable housing opportunities for potential homebuyers in the future. These funds will also help prevent older structures from deteriorating and avoid further blight in our communities.”
The HOME Program supports municipalities by preserving and expanding affordable housing options for low- and very low-income residents throughout Pennsylvania.
